Once the indexing is complete performance returns to normal. It took 3 weeks to index all my data on my old TS-419P+. I chose to simply let the Media Library etc run on my NAS. It works ok, the only problem is that some of the films buffer over DNLA. I have only recently purchased the device and have put a lot of files on it. I seldom use File Station, as I prefer the Linux command line for my file maintenance and "housekeeping" anyway.Ĭhoffit wrote:Is there any way to turn it off in Qfile? My TS-220 is constantly running at 100% CPU usage. (I simply schedule the Media Library to only "scan while I sleep"). I personally like FFmpeg, and what it does for me. (You can install Aja圎xplorer or similar to get the functionality of a File Managers without the "benefits" of FFmpeg. Simply don't use File Station, and it won't call FFmpeg. ![]() The however doesn't need to be a "deal breaker" either. File Station is another QNAP Application that uses it. This will eliminate most of the FFmpeg activity. You can disable most of it's activity by changing the QNAP Media Library from "realtime" to "manual scan", or simply disabling it completely: You state that you are only downloading media files, so in your case the only "work" it is doing is "thumbnailing" your files. The QTS Firmware uses FFmpeg for multiple purposes, including transcoding when needed. Thanks in advance, Google is your friend.įFmpeg is slow on embedded Linux devices due to the relatively low amount of RAM available to it. Since I wasn't doing anything (not playing any media from any device) except downloading, I'm wondering: what the ** is ffmpeg and could that be causing the NAS to run so slowly? If so: what other function fires this process up and where can I stop it?Īlso, my CPU usage is at a constant 100%. These numbers and percentages keep changing by the way. My TS-412 seems to be very slow since I reinstalled it so after I ruled out my network giving me problems, I checked the Process tab and found this: I've been searching the forum but haven't found exactly in which category to place this question.
